In 2006 the name of the newcomer Andreu Lacondeguy resounded throughout the mountain bike scene. The Catalane, an exceeding personality is not only the paradise bird among the Dirt and Slopstyle-Rider elite but also an excellent Downhill, Motocross and BMX rider.
In 2008 he had a good time filming for NWD9 on his new trail near Barcelona. He's been in California for shooting more crazy jumping and downhill action with his former Kona team mates for Freeride Entertainment’s “Never Enough” movie.
Andreu was the first mountain bike athlete to pull a backflip on a huge sized snowboard big air ramp. He jumped about 70ft. far with an 18ft. Drop, all upside down! His first big success was his triumph at the Nissan Qashqai Challenge 2007 in Milan. Unforgettable is his double backflip within his sensational run which brought him the victory at the Whistler’s Crankworx in 2008.
In 2009 Andreu won the Best Trick Contest at the Crankworx with his unique riding style. He also took the first place at the White Style in Leogang (Austria). On his BMX bike, Lacon entered at the Vans Rebel Jam 2010 in Portimao (POR) and won the contest. Moreover, he dominated the Dirtjump Extreme Movie Star at his home base Barcelona.
In October 2010 the Spaniard signed with Mondraker bikes and rode his first Big Mountain Contest ever: the Red Bull Rampage in Virgin, Utah. He placed 4th overall which means he is right up there not only with the world’s best dirt jump riders, but also among the best Big Mountain riders!
In the current season Andreu proved once again his exceptional style at the Best Trick Contest on Vienna Air King, where he showed again his crazy double-backflip. In June 2011 he participated at the 26TRIX contest in Leogang where he impressed the judges and media with his super-extended motostyle and tricks and placed second.
Andreu just purchased his new training compound outside of Barcelona where he can ride Mondraker dirt jump bike as well as his FMX bike.
He continues to push the limits and bring the mountain bike freestyle to the next level.
